SC & ST COMMITTEE
As per The Scheduled Castes and Tribes – Prevention of atrocities Act committee is established under Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tributes Act. 1989, No.33 of 1989, Dated 11.09.1989) committee is constituted for Government Polytechnic, Barauni. To create and maintain safe, healthy and supportive environment for SC/ST students in the campus. To address the issues of students, belonging to SC/ST in the Institute and to prevent atrocities against them. To comply with AICTE regulations for the establishment of the Committee for SC/ST (as per the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribes (prevention of Atrocities) act, 1989, No.33 of 1989, 11/09/1989).
Objectives:
1. The Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Committee promotes the interests of SC/ST students and guides them to achieve their dreams by utilizing the benefits of the schemes offered by the Government of India.
2. To ensure there is no caste-based discrimination in the Institution.
3. To take measures for achieving the objectives and targets laid down by the Government of India for the SC/ST students.
4. Guide the SC/ST students of the Institute, to optimally utilise the benefits of the schemes offered by the State Governments, Government of India (GOI), and UGC.
Functioning of SC/ST Committee:
Function as a Grievances Redressal Cell for the grievances of SC/ST students of the college and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as personal career problems. Any other work assigned from time to time to promote higher education among these two communities suffering economic, social and educational deprivations.
Activities of SC/ST Committee:
The SC/ST Cell was established in the college to co-ordinate in the implementation of the various policies and programmes launched by the Central Government, MHRD, UGC and State Government for the benefit of the SC/ST students. It also undertakes the activities to develop awareness among the SC/ST students, especially from the rural areas. The faculty members of the Cell are actively engaged in coordinating and solving the problems in matters related to SC/ST students. Announce details of free coaching programs, start-ups, government scholarships and fellowships through circulars to the SC/ST students from time to time as and when notified by Central Government, MHRD, UGC and State Governments.
Frequency Of Meeting:
The SC& ST Committee holds the meeting once at the beginning of each semester, and as per the requirement, the meeting can be scheduled at any time to resolve any case.
The sop for the handling of complaints / grievances.
Process of submitting the complaint
Any aggrieved student belonging to the reserved category can reach out to the Committee. By lodging a complaint in the prescribed format available with the committee members.
Grievance mechanism:
1. On receiving a complaint, the Committee shall commence a meeting within a week of receipt of the complaint.
2. The committee shall fix a date for hearing the complaint which shall be communicated to the complainer person.
3. The complainer person should present in person before the Committee.
4. The Committee shall report its findings to The Principal with recommendations if any within a period of fifteen days.
