Administration

Government Polytechnic, Barauni is a government institution under the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Government of Bihar, and functions in accordance with the rules and directions of the Department. In academic matters, the institute works within the framework laid down by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which approves its programmes, and the State Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Bihar, which prescribes the curriculum and conducts the examinations. The institute also draws on the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) for faculty development in the teaching and practical aspects of technical education. The Principal is the head of the institute and is responsible for its academic, administrative and financial functioning. The day-to-day work of the institute is organised in three tiers. First, each academic department is headed by a Head of Department, who is responsible for the teaching, laboratories and student matters of that department. Second, the service and support functions of the institute, such as the examination cell, the training and placement cell, the library, the hostels, the stores and the accounts section, are each assigned to a faculty member who reports to the Principal. Third, the institute constitutes committees for specific responsibilities, including the anti-ragging committee, the internal complaints committee, the grievance redressal committee and the purchase committee, in accordance with the norms of AICTE and the Department. This arrangement is intended to keep decision-making close to the work concerned while retaining overall responsibility with the Principal. The assignment of faculty members to the various administrative and management responsibilities is notified by office order from time to time. The current list may be downloaded from the link below.
